  • 1 bunch asparagus trimmed
  • 8 slices of bacon AIP-compliant
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • Sea salt to taste
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • 1 tsp nutritional yeast optional, for umami flavor

Instructions
 

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  • Lightly toss the trimmed asparagus with olive oil and sea salt.
  • Take each asparagus spear and wrap it with a slice of bacon. For a smokier flavor, use a slightly thicker cut of bacon if available.
  • Sprinkle smoked paprika over the bacon-wrapped asparagus for added smokiness.
  • Arrange the bacon-wrapped asparagus in a single layer on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat.
  • Roast in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the asparagus is tender. If the bacon isn't crispy enough, you can broil for an additional 1-2 minutes, but keep a close eye to prevent burning.
  • Before serving, sprinkle with nutritional yeast for an extra layer of umami flavor.
